4.6 Identifying a worn timing belt


If the mounting screw is not centered in the distributor flange at the correct timing adjustment (10 degrees BTDC at 800rpm) the timing belt is likely to be excessively worn, and in need of replacement. If you see that this screw is off-center, check the condition of the timing belt. They should be replaced every 60,000 miles.
