Searching by Keywords
You can search the FARC
by keyword to help identify email messages that interest you.
When entering your keywords, separate each keyword by a space. Case
does not matter - you may use upper or lower case letters or any combination
of them.
Avoid using "noise words" in your search.
Noise words are words that are not indexed in the
FARC such as "and" or "the" or
"this". These words are far too common and, if indexed,
would slow the site down for everyone.
Do not use operators such as AND, OR or NOT. Instead,
use the "+" and "-" characters to help narrow
your search. Prefixing any word with a + means that word must appear
in all matches, a - means that word cannot appear in any matches.
For example: searching for keywords of "+Brake -Line -Lines"
would find all entries with the word "Brake" in the message
(or subject if that's where you are searching), but any messages that
also had the words "Line" or "Lines" would not
be returned.
Note: you can include the wildcard character (*) in
your keywords. This is the truncation operator and will match any
words with the same first letters up to the position of the *. So
the above example could have simply been entered in as "+Brake
-Line*" but keep in mind that this would not only omit messages
with the words "Line" and "Lines", but also "Liner"
-or any other words with the first 4 letters of L-I-N-E.
